The tractor loan EMI calculator here shows the instalment and interest cost of financing a tractor or other farm machinery. Type the loan amount, the rate and the years; it opens with ₹6 lakh at 12% for 5 years. Many tractor loans are repaid half yearly or quarterly, timed to harvests, so this page also shows how to find that instalment.
A tractor earns through your own farming and through renting it out. Matching repayments to when that money arrives is the key to a comfortable loan.

How the tractor loan EMI calculator works
For monthly repayment, the calculator uses the reducing balance formula. Borrowing ₹6 lakh for 5 years at 12% means ₹13,347 a month; ₹8,00,800 goes back to the lender, ₹2,00,800 of it interest. An ₹8 lakh loan at 11% for 6 years costs ₹15,227 a month.
Type the loan after your down payment and any subsidy. If part of the cost is covered by a state scheme, the loan may be smaller than the tractor's price.
Tractor loan half yearly EMI calculator: the method
For half yearly repayment, the same formula works with the rate and count set per half year:
Instalment = P × i × (1 + i)^n ÷ ((1 + i)^n − 1), where i = yearly rate ÷ 2 and n = years × 2
₹6,00,000 at 12% for 5 years: i = 0.06, n = 10. The instalment is about ₹81,500 every six months. Ten such payments total about ₹8,15,200, slightly more interest than monthly repayment, because the balance falls less often.
For quarterly repayment, use i = rate ÷ 4 and n = years × 4. Plan each instalment date about a month after the harvest you expect to sell.
Repayment schedule options
| Schedule | Instalments in 5 years | Each instalment (₹6 lakh, 12%) | Fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly | 60 | ₹13,347 | Steady rental or dairy income |
| Quarterly | 20 | about ₹40,300 | Several crops a year |
| Half yearly | 10 | about ₹81,500 | Two main harvests |
Choose the schedule your income can meet even in a weak season. Missing an instalment adds penal interest and harms your credit record.
Down payment, insurance and subsidies
- Down payment: typically between a tenth and a quarter of the cost.
- Insurance: lenders require the tractor to be insured; the first year is sometimes financed.
- Subsidies: some state agriculture departments offer support on tractors or implements for eligible farmers. Ask your local agriculture office.
- Security: the tractor is hypothecated; for larger loans land documents may be asked for.
Try several deposit levels on the down payment tool.
Before you sign
- Count your own acres and expected rental days; rental income often decides whether a tractor pays for itself.
- Ask whether the quote is flat or reducing; a flat one can be decoded on the rate converter.
- Check foreclosure charges if you may repay early after a good harvest.
- Keep a copy of the repayment schedule with dates.
Trucks and pickups have a separate page; other loans are listed under the EMI calculator.
Will the tractor pay for itself
Add up what the tractor saves and earns in a year: the hire charges you no longer pay for ploughing, sowing and haulage on your own land, plus income from renting it to neighbours. Subtract diesel, a driver if needed, servicing and insurance. If what is left covers the year's instalments with room to spare, the loan is sound. If it only works in a good season, consider a smaller tractor, a used one or a longer tenure. Keep in mind that rental demand peaks at the same time for everyone, so count realistic hire days.
